instruction
I found this image of Lucian Freud’s portrait of Francis Bacon over at artdaily.org and thought I would post it because it so clearly (thank you Christie’s) reproduces the image and the brushstrokes that make up the whole...it seemed pretty instructive, especially since it is unfinished. I also just really like the forehead handeling.
Incidentally, it just sold for $9.4 million.

of course
Have you seen the movie "Love is the devil" about Francis Bacon?
Wow, I love that. I hve nver seen it.
Also, I wish I had $9.4 million.
Kurt, no I haven't seen it, but I'll go check it out.
Steph, I just love this work because it articulates his process without demystifying it....and with 9.4 mil, we'd work on getting you that Hybrid you've been wanting....
